Hi everyone,

I'm wanted to share that my 2019 I-PACE buyback request has been approved by Jaguar North America! I know many of you have had similar challenges, and I hope my experience provides some encouragement and information. Note that I started this process about 10 days before Jaguar made any buyback announcements for the 2019 model, so I am unsure if I am on the same path as everyone else.

Important Note: I'm in California, which has strong lemon law protections. Your experience in other states may differ. My I-PACE currently has 66k miles and is out of the factory bumper-to-bumper warranty, but still within the battery warranty period.

The Final Straw: After experiencing ongoing issues, including a full battery replacement last year after the H441 recall, the H514 recall was the final straw for me. I decided to pursue a buyback under the California Lemon Law and contacted Jaguar in November 2024.

Here's a quick timeline of the key events:
  • November 14, 2024: Contacted Jaguar North America to start the process.
  • November 19, 2024: Received a case number and was assigned a case manager.
  • November 21, 2024: Submitted requested documentation (sales contract, etc.).
  • December 12, 2024: My case was escalated to the Process Specialist team.
  • December 27, 2024: Process Specialist reached out to gather more paperwork.
  • January 10, 2025: Received official buyback approval!
  • January 15, 2025: Completed pre-inspection at the dealer.
  • January 16, 2025: My case was moved to the Consumer Affairs team.
The Teams Involved:
To give you an idea of what to expect, here are the different teams at Jaguar I worked with:
  • Customer Relationship Centre: The initial point of contact. They gather information and assign a case manager.
  • Process Specialist Team: Reviews your case in detail and acts as your advocate.
  • Consumer Affairs: The final decision-making authority on buyback requests.
What's Next:
My car is currently at the dealership for the pre-inspection step, where they are checking the car's condition and verifying the mileage. Once that's complete, I expect to receive a formal buyback offer.

My expectation for a buyback amount around $38k (not official or confirmed), based on an online calculator, but I have no idea if I will get anything close to this. $52k is shown on some calculators that include interest.

Possible NDA:
I may be required to sign a NDA, like Pseudonym did as part of the final buyback agreement. If that happens, I might need to remove this post or edit it to remove specific details. But I'll share as much as I can beforehand, and I hope others will do the same! We can rely on our collective knowledge and experience to help each other navigate this process.

As part of this process I have spoken to legal counsel, but not engaged them on this yet as I am satisfied with the process so far, and will only consider getting representation if they above factors change or if the buyback offer is too low.

I'll keep you all posted on the final outcome. Wish me luck with the final steps!
Hello, i just got the offer for mine and it was only $28K, pristine condition and only 29,000 miles. this is very unsatisfactory and I will never have anything to do with Jaguar again. What calculator were you using to determine what you think you will get?

I went the route of saying it was worth more. Fact that I had invested in a bike rack, another set of wheels and tires for winter, vinyl wrapped the front, immaculate condition. Also, it looked like KBB wasn't very good at added options like heads up display and premium sound system. So I listed those. Then I just asked if I could get a better offer.
Nice, good to know and good for you, definitely some bull s*** we have to deal with this, I loved this car - Jaguar has no reason to low ball us, they will be juuuust fine if they compensate us fairly.

Count me in. I am upside down almost 9k on my loan my email is Robert.e.elliott.62@gmail.com
You really should not be putting your email on a public forum (your SPAM filter will melt from all the traffic. There is a personal message system on the forum for that sort of thing. I suggest using the edit function to remove it before the web crawlers harvest it

So I am done with all the documentation with someone from "Customer Relationship Center" and the final message I got it

I have gathered your vehicle history and I have submitted your request to our Process Specialist Team.
-The Process Specialist's role is to prepare your repurchase request for the Consumer Affairs Review for Determination. Consumer Affairs is who will determine if the vehicle qualifies for repurchase once their review process is completed.
-Your Process Specialist will advise, via email, once this review with Consumer Affairs takes place, and a decision is made.

After more that 10 days now I get another email from someone who is "Process Specialist" in "Customer Relationship center" (Both the persons are different but same case number)
And she is asking the same information again which I already provided to the 1st person.

This whole process seems like a way to delay as much as possible. Has anyone had any luck with expediting the process? like telling them if you don't give me a number ($$$) by X date I will start this process with an Attorney.
I have Car Registration Fees Due end of may and I don't want to spend $500 on registration if i have to give it back.
We are 8k upside down on my loan. My car is in pristine condition and I was only offered 28k. How do I join the NJ class action?

got a joke buyback for $24k. paid off, but in a stroke of luck, I am definitely still under the CA lemon law (even with the changes), so that uses a formula that does NOT include depreciation. And that formula seems to be x2 what they offered.

rejected their offer and gave them five days to comply with the law. already talked to a lawyer (in CA Jag has to pay lawyers fees for a successful claim OR a settlement) and they are ready to go.

this was my first and last Jag. horribly handled. lawyer said this sub has been a boon for their business.

I also have the 2019 hse, 70k mi and some cosmetic issues, etc, I am wondering what your rep's name and ext or email are please?
Hi, I first emailed Jaguar and was told to call 833-221-9788 9-5 EST. They took my name and number down and opened the case, and then I was contacted by email by Jessica Klimek. She requested my title and drivers license and copies of the initial invoice (had it for taxes). I then received an offer letter with timing for early April car turnover at the Jaguar dealership. Offer came with car unseen.

Hi, could you share the offer number, if you can? Also, wondering if they provide any rental support from the time the offer is signed to the time the offer check is released. Thank you.

I don’t know if we’re supposed to or not. Was over current KBB which has my base model at 16,000 or so. I ended up leasing a new car 2 weeks ago because I had no idea when pickup would be scheduled. It still hasn’t been, so I emailed over the weekend. Also they will give you an offer letter but I don’t think you have to accept it. My offer was higher than I would have gotten at trade in and there’s 2 for sale in my area with lower mileage at much lower than ($5000 less) what they gave me.

Negotiating....with the wife. I just picked up a 2025 BMW iX xDrive50. My wife is driving the I-Pace and is trying to decide if she wants to drive it or her Lexus 300h. Personally, I would like her to accept the buyback and then sell the Lexus 300h when the 2026 BMW i4 xDrive40 comes out.
Update: We decided to accept the buyback offer. The biggest issue for us was the current value of the car and what would happen if someone hit our car enough to cause the insurance company to total the car. I'm sure that the amount the insurance company would give us wouldn't be much more than US$16,000. And that would probably go down as each month past. So rather than leave the car parked, pay for insurance and registration, we decided to let the car go.
Now I need to sell the rear bike rack, 12v auxiliary battery (3 months old), 4 original 20" tires (with about 5K miles - came with the wheels I mounted snow tires on), 4 mounted 20" snow tires (with about 1K miles). Also have a sunshade and cargo mat.

Just a little light at the end of the tunnel. I surrendered my vehicle on Monday. Check was at my door the next day. I am glad it is all done, but it’s a shame about the car.

I'm in CA too. Started this process on 1/16 and have never even received an offer. They told me it would be 4-6 weeks when I first spoke to JLR. I guess that was before they decided to try to screw everyone and hand everything off to Morley to handle... What attorney are you using?

several people I read about here are using them, they already know the issue with our car and how dead simple our cases are to handled. really, REALLY stupid of Jag to funk around with CA people still under warranty. it's not a negotiation, it's a formula.

ok, to update this thread I started.

I have accepted the 2nd offer from Morley as Jaguar NA stopped talking to me cold about 2 months ago. Not a peep. Morley was mostly unresponsive too until the start of April. Originally I calculated my buyback amount at $38k, but that was a bit high I think.

This is the calculation I did 3 weeks ago right before accepting the 2nd offer.
Code:
Cash price $53995
Bought in December 2020
57k miles on first issue with battery (H441 recall)
66k miles now
Amount financed $61k (rolled in negative equity, $2500 down)
CA Buyback calculation = $30,365 (amount financed + down payment) x (miles are first repair / 120k miles) = ($63,873) x (57k / 120k)
CA Buyback calc= $30.3k
Morley 1st offer = $30.2k (rejected and countered)
Morley 2nd offer = $34.8k (accepted)

I am satisfied, although I did not get interest reimbursement (3.2% loan). Hope you all get what you want. Only took me 6 months from start.
