I'm getting the horseshit "does not qualify for California lemon law" crap. Guess I will get the lawyer, is anyone having them change out the battery? At this point, that would suit me fine.

Hi everyone,
Most likely my last post since after initially reaching out to JLR via email and then the buyback number 3/14, submitted my documents on 3/19, I received the buyback letter today, 3/20 which I just accepted and returned. Now just need to coordinate drop off time. My car has 60,524 miles and multiple scrapes on all the corners from the tight spaces at work (and other drivers not me!), a piece of the rear bumper that fell off (work hit and run) and I JB welded back in and the occasional leaking from the windshield to front passenger seat— all in all I think I was fairly compensated since they didn’t look at the car and gave me the offer. I’ve loved the car and I wish they had upgraded battery and tech and I would have happily bought one again. All in all, with the buyback offer on my 2019 s model I paid less than a lease would have been for the 5 1/2 years I’ve owned it.
I am in N. Cal, so good luck to those in other states!
What did you accept for the buy back.

Hi everyone,

I'm wanted to share that my 2019 I-PACE buyback request has been approved by Jaguar North America! I know many of you have had similar challenges, and I hope my experience provides some encouragement and information. Note that I started this process about 10 days before Jaguar made any buyback announcements for the 2019 model, so I am unsure if I am on the same path as everyone else.

Important Note: I'm in California, which has strong lemon law protections. Your experience in other states may differ. My I-PACE currently has 66k miles and is out of the factory bumper-to-bumper warranty, but still within the battery warranty period.

The Final Straw: After experiencing ongoing issues, including a full battery replacement last year after the H441 recall, the H514 recall was the final straw for me. I decided to pursue a buyback under the California Lemon Law and contacted Jaguar in November 2024.

Here's a quick timeline of the key events:
  • November 14, 2024: Contacted Jaguar North America to start the process.
  • November 19, 2024: Received a case number and was assigned a case manager.
  • November 21, 2024: Submitted requested documentation (sales contract, etc.).
  • December 12, 2024: My case was escalated to the Process Specialist team.
  • December 27, 2024: Process Specialist reached out to gather more paperwork.
  • January 10, 2025: Received official buyback approval!
  • January 15, 2025: Completed pre-inspection at the dealer.
  • January 16, 2025: My case was moved to the Consumer Affairs team.
The Teams Involved:
To give you an idea of what to expect, here are the different teams at Jaguar I worked with:
  • Customer Relationship Centre: The initial point of contact. They gather information and assign a case manager.
  • Process Specialist Team: Reviews your case in detail and acts as your advocate.
  • Consumer Affairs: The final decision-making authority on buyback requests.
What's Next:
My car is currently at the dealership for the pre-inspection step, where they are checking the car's condition and verifying the mileage. Once that's complete, I expect to receive a formal buyback offer.

My expectation for a buyback amount around $38k (not official or confirmed), based on an online calculator, but I have no idea if I will get anything close to this. $52k is shown on some calculators that include interest.

Possible NDA:
I may be required to sign a NDA, like Pseudonym did as part of the final buyback agreement. If that happens, I might need to remove this post or edit it to remove specific details. But I'll share as much as I can beforehand, and I hope others will do the same! We can rely on our collective knowledge and experience to help each other navigate this process.

As part of this process I have spoken to legal counsel, but not engaged them on this yet as I am satisfied with the process so far, and will only consider getting representation if they above factors change or if the buyback offer is too low.

I'll keep you all posted on the final outcome. Wish me luck with the final steps!
I would take that as well. And mine is in mint condition with only 13k miles.

Just got the offer today. It is $31,732. Mine is a red FE with 57,452 miles and the listing price was close 90k. I bought as a CPO with 4k miles for much less than the listing price. Changed 12v batteries twice under the warrantee. Otherwise, no issues at all. Still love the car. Runs great, feels great, good looking, and all the features, but the range wise, it is outdated, especially that now can only be charged to 80%. Like to keep the car but worried repair cost when something happens. What would you do if you were me?

I was only offered 30k. My car is in mint condition with only 13k miles. I literally just made the last payment on my 89k first edition. I'm not about to accept that only to get a lesser car for another car payment.

Im with you.

I am looking for close to 2x that amount or plan to keep driving. No 80% update on mine.
If it needs an expensive repair that I cannot do myself or non-dealer, it can go to a dismantler or high bidder. Also waiting for class action to move forward.

I know another owner that they gave a new ipace for their trade plus 1 dollar. I would take that as well.
Different recall!

Please read the threads fully and process the details. That was the H484 recall. Three options were on the table for those cars. Yours in under the H541 recall - only one option is being offered.

I appreciate that we all want to be treated equally, but the recalls are different and the "compensation" being offered is distinct. As I wrote in that thread, the idea of JLR giving an owner a new car for $1 was unhealthy and would lead to unrealistic demands of the same deal for everyone. Read the thread - the owner did not get a "new" car for $1.

I. Under both recalls. I have read them.

I am in touch with the Lawyer to file a lawsuit they denied my CA Lemon Law claim which was a surprise.
The lawyer mentioned there is a new law that will be effective on Apr 1st (you have to be quick with your paperwork).
Please message me if you want more details, the more voice we have it will be better.

For me I started the process early Feb they took more than 6 weeks (last week, near Apr 1st deadline) that my CA Lemon Law claim is denied. Its a way to delay and hit that date.
The worst part is I got a survey email today to "Rate my experience with JLR Customer Relationship Center" which made me :mad::mad::mad::mad:

@sharadunni Are you recommending starting a lemon law before April 1 or are you recommending hire a lawyer before April 1? Message me if you prefer to answer privately.

I'm still within the six year window for even the new Ca Lemon Law, but they keep saying "we don't believe you qualify for it" without explaining WHY I don't qualify for it, so that's frustrating. I am under the buyback recall, but I just want a new battery. If that's not possible I guess Lemon Law Lawyer is the way I have to go.

my first and last Jaguar, by the way.

can you share what firm you're talking to? might be worth me giving them a call

There is strength in numbers, that's why I recommend the Facebook page I set up specifically to discuss and help with this issue. If you are on that platform it's worth a look. 450 members of the group.

I had my batteries changed but that may have been a different recall. Mine was H484 if I remember correctly. 2019 First edition.
