Is you dealership Livermore, CA? I am in the same boat and I tried contacting the original dealership and they are saying they don't have the digital record and they are trying to find the physical copy. If yours is Livermore, CA dealership can u send me the details like whom u contacted? I did purchased my Car in 2019 and this dealership was sold in 2021.
Thanks
Sorry, but no - I bought from an Ohio dealer. I did finally get notice that JLR NA is sending the payoff today. Funny how things sped up when I mentioned I was opening an NHTSA report.

No mine is in Southern California. Jaguar ended up having to do the footwork to get my paperwork.

Hi everyone,

I'm wanted to share that my 2019 I-PACE buyback request has been approved by Jaguar North America! I know many of you have had similar challenges, and I hope my experience provides some encouragement and information. Note that I started this process about 10 days before Jaguar made any buyback announcements for the 2019 model, so I am unsure if I am on the same path as everyone else.

Important Note: I'm in California, which has strong lemon law protections. Your experience in other states may differ. My I-PACE currently has 66k miles and is out of the factory bumper-to-bumper warranty, but still within the battery warranty period.

The Final Straw: After experiencing ongoing issues, including a full battery replacement last year after the H441 recall, the H514 recall was the final straw for me. I decided to pursue a buyback under the California Lemon Law and contacted Jaguar in November 2024.

Here's a quick timeline of the key events:
  • November 14, 2024: Contacted Jaguar North America to start the process.
  • November 19, 2024: Received a case number and was assigned a case manager.
  • November 21, 2024: Submitted requested documentation (sales contract, etc.).
  • December 12, 2024: My case was escalated to the Process Specialist team.
  • December 27, 2024: Process Specialist reached out to gather more paperwork.
  • January 10, 2025: Received official buyback approval!
  • January 15, 2025: Completed pre-inspection at the dealer.
  • January 16, 2025: My case was moved to the Consumer Affairs team.
The Teams Involved:
To give you an idea of what to expect, here are the different teams at Jaguar I worked with:
  • Customer Relationship Centre: The initial point of contact. They gather information and assign a case manager.
  • Process Specialist Team: Reviews your case in detail and acts as your advocate.
  • Consumer Affairs: The final decision-making authority on buyback requests.
What's Next:
My car is currently at the dealership for the pre-inspection step, where they are checking the car's condition and verifying the mileage. Once that's complete, I expect to receive a formal buyback offer.

My expectation for a buyback amount around $38k (not official or confirmed), based on an online calculator, but I have no idea if I will get anything close to this. $52k is shown on some calculators that include interest.

Possible NDA:
I may be required to sign a NDA, like Pseudonym did as part of the final buyback agreement. If that happens, I might need to remove this post or edit it to remove specific details. But I'll share as much as I can beforehand, and I hope others will do the same! We can rely on our collective knowledge and experience to help each other navigate this process.

As part of this process I have spoken to legal counsel, but not engaged them on this yet as I am satisfied with the process so far, and will only consider getting representation if they above factors change or if the buyback offer is too low.

I'll keep you all posted on the final outcome. Wish me luck with the final steps!
Jaguar.made me offer based on fair market value instead of California Lemon Law as they mentioned in prior email. It was 1/2 of my Lemon Law calc

For what it's worth, if you financed the car (or leased it) your lender in that situation should have a copy of the papework on file that they can send you. I already did this with Chase.

Thanks, ya I started this process too with Chase.
The old dealership is not able to locate my Contract even though I have a copy of the additional things i purchased like Paint/Leather/Tire protection which has the contract number and all the details. They also mentioned the doc fee is used just for processing the documentation with DMV, etc its not used for storage and they have no obligation to give the customers a copy if they have lost it.
Also got an email from Jaguar today where they mentioned they are also not able to locate the Purchase Contract or Agreement. 5 years is a long time I am sure a lot of folks will be in this boat and not sure what the resolution will be.

For people who are unable to locate the Purchase Agreement/Contract they can contact the Bank where the car loan was acquired for me it was Chase and they are very quick to respond and give u the copy of ur Purchase contract/agreement.

So today I heard back from Jaguar, Consumer Affairs department, my first time talking with them. They said there were preparing my buyback offer and asked for the following.
  • 30-day payoff from your bank, including the per diem.
  • Payment history
They said that once they have this updated info they would be able to release my repurchase agreement for my review and signature. I have submitted these documents before on January 13th, but both are stall now as the payoff has changed and one more payment has been made. Feels like I'm getting closer though.
I am on the same path as you. I have agreed and signed all paperwork and I have been waiting for check for close to a month. I have reached out to my consumer affairs person but he is no longer responding. There is no way to get hold of anyone else and I have tried to go through customer service only to be told consumer affairs is a different department. I am frustrated because I need to get into a new car but have no idea when my check will arrive. The fact that my consumer affairs contact is no longer responding is even more frustrating. There is just no onw to contact at this point.

How much time elapsed between signing the agreement and payment actually showing up? I was promised 30 days and it's now over 43. Suddenly the JLR NA rep doesn't answer the phone or return emails, and the service manager at the dealer is getting the same response - nothing.
This is exactly my experience. am in day 30 but my rep is no longer responding since February 4. There is no one to contact and no one is answering? weird and frustrating.

For those being offered a buyback at market value… what is the advantage of this program? Could you not sell it yourself for the same price? Am I missing something?
If the car is being recalled (entire model year), it is essentially worthless to anyone. Will JLR service the car of you refuse to allow JLR to buy it back? Will JLR service the car if another owner buys it? They are buying it back because they don't want the liability from the risk of the vehicle being on the road, so it is essentially unsellable.

FWIW I finally got the word today that my repurchase check is on the way, and the payoff check - sent to the wrong address initially - is finally in the finance company's hands. It may be 30 working days instead of calendar days, but if so - it would have been nice to know in advance.
Also the JLR NA rep won't answer why the check was sent to the wrong address or why my repurchase check wasn't sent out upon arrival, but at least I'm finally seeing progress. Good luck
