Are you doing your weekly fluid checks?

Recommended in the manual:

Check the following every week:
  • Coolant level.
  • Brake fluid level.
  • Screen washer fluid level.
  • Tire pressures and condition.
  • Operate the Air Conditioning (A/C).
I have not done those at all yet, but I'm still under 500 miles.

For those who have, did you find any fluid drops (other than screen washer fluid)?

Errrrr, SURE.....yeah, checking...weekly....

Actually I do check tire pressure, but honestly I expect the car to warn me on brake and coolant levels.

If they really wanted us to check the fluid levels, they should have made it easy to do. Requiring the removal any panel to view fluid levels is not driver friendly. Adding brake and coolant fluids is almost impossible. It requires removing panels where retaining tabs, that are to be pressed, are actually blocked by other panels.

Right after I got mine, I went through the owners manual, saw this recommendation, and did a dry run of the procedure. It is not nearly as easy to do as it is to read.

I am usually casual about such things, but this is the most I've spent on a vehicle and the only one for which I've bothered to read the manual. That 'weekly' check recommendation gave me a jolt.

So I mainly wanted to test other owners' take on it. So far, it looks like it's being treated as optional.

I'm not judging, just asking, for some guidance.

I tried to do the checks and managed to remove the main cover between the frunk and the wipers - but darned if I could remove the two smaller panels that cover the fluid reservoirs. Gave up in the end.

Thank you so much for this public service announcement. I'm at >3000 miles and .. uh .. blissfully unaware. I think I'll keep it that way

Actually, I do pay attention to the tire pressure like a hawk, and I do operate the AC sometimes but not as a maintenance item

Honestly, I would only check the Washer fluid and the tire pressure with any regularity. The others I'll either check 2x per year or leave to the dealer if it goes in for any service. You can pretty well guess when the AC needs a recharge. And yes, agreed that access needs to be reasonable for checking the fluids.
