Charge port light hack

I took mouldable glue (sugru.com) and fitted a reflective nickel plate into the corner of the port such that light from the little lamp gets reflected onto the receptacle ... now that it's dark out I am able to confirm that it works! It blocks most of the light from shining into your eye and reflects a respectable amount towards the receptacle.

Fabulous idea! I did something similar but stuck the reflective piece on to the charging port cover. I like your idea better as it has the added benefit of keeping you from getting blinded by that stupid poorly designed light.

You read my mind, @sciencegeek , and your solution is brilliant. I'm out here in the dark ... UX designers, do we really have this super cool bat-light shining on the ground but *nothing* lighting the charging receptacle?!? Well, we'll fix this.

It would be even better if the charging plugs had lights built into them.

Or an LED light on the flap aimed at the receptacle that lights when the flap is opened and off when closed.

I have a clip-on flashlight that I can clip to the flap and aim at the port. I got it at Home Depot but I think it is a discontinued item. Model# BBM890XHD
