Exclamation Windshield Blocking GPS and Radar Detector Speed Indicator

Just an FYI that the I-Pace windshield appears to block getting a satisfactory GPS signal on two different types of radar detectors that we've tested. Still picks up radar and laser alerts fine. But you don't get an actual speed displayed on the radar detector because it never acquires a GPS lock.

You have to use the cutout area right next to the mirror for any electronic device(including toll passes) you want to receive signals from outside the car. They don't apply the UV coatings to this area for that reason as whatever they use blocks a lot more than UV light.

GPS, seriously? Does your phone get a decent GPS signal when you're in the car?

Hmm. The one time I tried to use Google MAPS so far, I did get a "GPS Signal Lost" report every so often, but it picked it back up and seemed to work fine. But, that might explain why the phone was audibly complaining.

I noticed the same issue and found a sort of a solution.
I've installed this Bluetooth GPS Receiver in the trunk and now I'm "safe" again

By "cutout area" do you mean the areas on each side of the mirror with the electric grid for defrosting the windshield? Otherwise, there is no visible area on the I-Pace.

Is this spam?? GPS receivers require unobstructed, line-of-sight access to the satellites so hiding this in your trunk clearly wouldn't work.

This is no spam..
in case you haven't noticed... the I-Pace trunk has large rear window and it seems less isolated than the front wind shield.

But if you dont' believe me.... I couldn't care less

My XF was exactly the same. I tried two different radar detectors, neither receiving GPS. When I paired the radar detector with the app, it seemed to work fine and all the functions work through the app. It appears to be the same in the iPace so far with me.

No need to get huffy. Just looked suspicious. Thanks for the update.
