Travel Question

Hi

I’m about to pull the trigger on an I-Pace HSE. I love the ride and handling. Overall comfort and refinement is beyond what Tesla offers IMO. Seats at least the 18 way are awesome. My biggest concern is travel and availability of charging stations. I live out of Raleigh and often travel to Atlanta and Asheville. Should I be concerned or is this a non issue?

Thanks

Get the phone app Plugshare. You can use it to see where chargers are along the route you might go. Chargepoint, EVgo, Electrify America, etc. all have their own apps showing their own brand of charger and some others. Plugshare is quite comprehensive of all brands.

The charger brand apps show you when their chargers are in use. Plugshare is dependent on users "checking in/out" to notify other app users when they are using a charger.

Go to PlugShare and look at your options for CCS chargers. Under normal highway driving (steady state 70-75mph) I wouldn’t plan on traveling much more than 200 miles without recharging

Plugshare is great but I prefer the vendor-specific sites, which probably have more up-to-date or real-time information.
Looks like your Raleigh-Atlanta trip has a few EA sites! https://www.electrifyamerica.com/locate-charger

And more:
Here's ChargePoint
https://na.chargepoint.com/charge_point

Here's EVgo
https://www.evgo.com/charging-locations/

On a 400 mile drive you'll have two charging stops, realistically totaling 2 hrs. And you need to charge at the destination. Totally doable, you just need to adjust expectation and plan a little.
