Driving modes

I usually switch to Dynamic mode whenever I drive my I-Pace. I'm not sure if the acceleration is better in Dynamic mode compared to Comfort but I would like to believe it is.

Other than having to turn on Dynamic mode every time I get in the car, is there any downside to driving all the time in dynamic mode?

Is there an appreciable drop in mileage using Dynamic vs comfort? I have a charger in my garage so I don't worry about range anxiety. And I haven't really been tracking cost since its all added to my electric bill.

Does everyone switch to dynamic mode too? Or do you prefer comfort mode?

From what I've seen Dynamic can shift the suspension and wheel response based on your settings and does get more aggressive on the accelerator. I believe that stomping all the way down on comfort probably will have same impact in both modes, but the car definitely "feels" more responsive and sharper on throttle and the wheel is definitely sharper.

I switch to dynamic when I want to drive a little more "spirited" (what the heck aggressively), or am going on back roads to drive the car, or sometimes when a REALLY upbeat song is playing...otherwise I am in Comfort or Eco.

Oh yeah, or when some fing m-ron tries to cut me off to get one or two cars ahead in traffic...

I drive in Dynamic mode around town, and YES, it absolutely makes acceleration much more responsive based on your foot/pedal push. I drive in Comfort mode on the highway. The difference in range is minimal, but you will get slightly better range when driving in Comfort mode. I've had my I-Pace since 12/1/18 and I now have > 5k miles on my I-Pace; I get approx 220-240 miles range for all City driving in Dynamic/Comfort modes vs. 190-200 miles range for all Highway driving in Comfort mode. I live in South FL, so the A/C and seat cooling are always on as are my radio/phone/Bluetooth, etc.. Hope that helps.

Can't wait for someone to take the I-Pace through some road course track because that will be a true test of its abilities as a "real Jaguar"
To some extent it will have to be a drivers car but of course fulfill the practical end its ultimately for.
I think through testing like that we'll discover that tires can be improved to some stickier compound.

Dynamic mode.

I agree with the "ECO Mode Works" thread that the car will provide a greater estimated range with ECO Mode selected; but believe actual range mostly depends on how you actually drive / conditions, not selected mode.

As mentioned elsewhere, I find a more-resistant accelerator pedal annoying. So, I choose Dynamic Mode 80% of the time, every time.

Also, spirited windy back-road driving in the I-Pace is awesome. My reference point: 2019 Mazda MX-5 RF GT (which I got sideways several times). Don't let the size / weight of the I-Pace fool you. It has road-race chops out of the box. If you're looking for observable evidence, see the I-Pace E-Trophy footage available online (sure, stiffened suspension, but same battery & drive), or the video review by "The Fast Lane Car" (TFLcar) in which you can watch the passenger get thrown from side to side as the driver plows through the curves.

Coming off 2 full days of driving in ECO mode, I charged to 100% and saw a new record range of 254. I never saw above 230 in COMFORT nor above 210 in DYNAMIC, so there appears to be about a 10% variance between modes based on my general use/observations over 2 months. I much prefer (and use) the 'spirited' driving capabilities, but pleased to see additional range occurring when desired and reasonably managed with "more sensible" driving habits.

I've done the range "reset" thing (pressing hard on both the accelerator & brake at the same time for 20 sec) many times and seen the range jump to 260-280 mi...yeah right, okay. But as you drive it normally over the next couple days, it adjusts to your driving habits and shows a more typical expected range between 205-234 mi. I've never driven it in ECO mode though; only Comfort & Dynamic.

I hadn't used ECO mode at all either until this past week, then used exclusively to evaluate range on some longer trips. Makes a difference!

I hold down the Voice button and say "Lawrence of Arabia", it it replies in Peter O'Toole's voice: "NO PRISONERS!!"
I guess that's dynamic mode?
