Navigation Update Failed

So yesterday I get in my car and it says there is a navigation update (kinda stupid they cant just use google maps live like Tesla). I go to the Jag/HERE website, download the installation software and maps. Upload it to USB drive and then go to the car to update.

Repeated failures at the 3% updating maps. I tried the two diff USB slots and still the same problem. Tried a different USB drive and still the same issue. Then it says something like see dealer for update. Really? Why is it so difficult to update and why do I have to go to the dealer?

I was fortunate and had no problem updating, although I don’t use the JLR nav, so it was a waste of my time to do it. I agree they do not make it easy

Just updated my maps today after seeing this post. The download took a while, but the actual update wasn't bad.

Formatting can require a bit of trouble shooting when it comes to using USB's. Ideally you should just be able to complete the update through the infotainment system itself. Why make a second/third step in the first place.

Yes. If connected to home wifi I would have expected the update would happen automatic every 3 to 6 months.

It took about an hour to download the map update from the site and put on USB drive.
Took only about 15 minutes once the USB drive was inserted in the vehicle.
Updated with no problem on first try

So Iím confused. Will it update map, as manual says it will, with an internet connection. Meaning an available outside wi-fi, or the on-board ATT, either should work. I was able to figure out how to download update to a usb flash drive, havenít done it yet. And I donít know if I need to. I think I might have already done it without usb transfer. Is there a way to find out the current version thatís installed and compare that to what is current?

The latest version for North America is :08.030.0092.0153

To check the version on your vehicle go to Navigation, select Settings, then Navigation Settings, then About, then Installed maps and updates

@ryzvy , thank you. Mine says map version 8.30.91.151, so Iím not up to date. I canít get it to check for updates, bar goes green when I hit enter or the arrow key. Went to check updates for InControl Touch software and it does check, Iím current. Or it says I am and shows Iím running S18D_18.47.5-269316. While Iím at it, it says Telematics version is 14.2 and current. So Iím off to Office Depot to get a 3.0 USB flash drive, since I canít download over air unless someone can clue me in.
