Bit the bullet

Started with a hybrid in 2006. PHEV in 2014. Now BEV... and a pretty nice one at that!

Congrats

How does a pure EV compare to your previous cars?

Greater torque than the Chevy Volt, so much quicker 'pickup'.
Much smoother ride with the air suspension and absence of low resistance tires.

To be fair, the Jag is a luxury vehicle, so it should be a better, more pleasant and exhilarating drive. But it hasn't disappointed yet :-)

Welcome to the I-pace world. You are right to not strictly compare the Jag to your past cars. I previously drove a Ford hybrid for 11yrs. Loved the feel of driving in electric mode - albeit only a few miles. You will love the Jag - torque, luxury, ride, wow-factor etc.

Biting the bullet: "decide to do something difficult or unpleasant that one has been putting off or hesitating over"

The difficult and unpleasant task of handing over all that cash has surely been superseded by the pleasure of driving it by now, no?

Thanks all.

Yes, the cash handover left a little lump in my throat, but as my Dad always said..... "You can't eat money." Which is a bit funny, as he can be quite frugal.

Already have to bring the car into the dealer, as the included SIM isn't picking up a cell signal and I can't seem to activate an account for it. When I try to update the software from 18D, the system tells me 'no internet connection'. When I link to my home WiFi network, the car tells me 'no updates available'.

Hopefully the dealer will help me figure this out.

But... the car is fantastic, otherwise. Love being in it and love driving it even more.

Like many of you, I'm sure, am looking for reasons to 'go for a drive', when in an ICE I'd never think to just head out for the fun of it.

Uggh.

5 days in and already have black screens that won't start up and 'Traction Battery Fault'

So disappointing!
