NEW to hopefully the Jag world from the world of Cadillac!

Hi Folks! 1st post. The I-Pace obviously brought me to this forum and the world of Jag. I've owned Corvettes in the past and learned from the Corvette forum that the best way to connect with others to solve problems with their unique cars is to share!

I'm LOVING what I am seeing with the I-Pace, absolutely loving it. I'm SO close to buying one. I only have 3 items I have to complete first. Sell my late model ICE CTS Cadillac, $7500 tax credit must still be available AND lastly I have to get a 240V put in my garage.

I was looking at Tesla, but I got to be honest, Their Dear LEADER LOL is a likable guy but a bit of a "cult" like following over there! I've also heard horror stories of folks waiting forever to have their Tesla's serviced.

I never even considered an X buy the way, the S I do still like but not sure why they are all being sold off now.

I like the warranty Jag provides, the straight up competition to the X and I believe it absolutely SMOKES it. Many, many items I love about this vehicle.

Look forward to many posts, of you all know of a great dealer with great deals, please opine! I

'm just looking for a new S. Thank you!

Welcome! My first Jag, too. I eyed Teslas for years... just couldn't get excited or confident enough to pull the trigger. I did get pumped about the Model X announcement, but the 'wings' (Falcon Wing Doors) just killed it for me. However, one look and test drive of the I-Pace last summer and my order was in. Infrastructure advantage of Tesla is rapidly diminishing, and Jag looks, handling, interior, and overall build quality crush those of Tesla. Service issues also deterred me. I also simply favored the 'more traditional' layout of several screens, buttons, knobs and dials vs. the sole "I-Pad in the Middle" scheme.

Welcome! I'm not surprised that you are skeptical of Teslas as you're a traditional driver's car guy, Caddies and all! Just get the flippin i-Pace already, you'll love it

Ps.: 240V in garage is no problem, that's how I did it, with a simple charging cable. But remember: EV requires a mental adjustment compared to ICE

I learned the hard way, so I hope you understand the 'inconvenience' factor of the BEV, especially in a sparse charger infrastructure area like we have in Minnesota, especially outside the Twin Cities. Do not expect to go on long trips easily/quickly. You can get to Chicago and Duluth from the Cities relatively painlessly, but to go south or west is a painful challenge. Even with the number of DC charges in the Cities, it isn't always easy. The last time I drove down there I spent nearly 2 hours, going to 5 different chargers, before I found a working one, **** near running to empty in the process. your ability to travel any amount of distance in the winter is even more severely restricted. For most of the winter 150 miles would have been a difficult reach for me, even driving at 60mph - forget about following the speed limit, that really sucks the juice! When we were down in the -20F range my max range was closer to 110 miles at 60mph.

The I-Pace is a great car, but it does have some significant limitations if you want to take it on the road.

By the way, we will be getting a second JLR dealer in the state this fall, so our current one will need to step up their game if they want to stay competitive. I bought mine in Des Moines...I had no idea how absolutely EV naive I was, thinking I could fly in and drive it home without much more effort than a normal car. It took me 24 hours to make it home; it is less than an 8 hour trip in a normal car. Since then they have opened a DC Charger in Blue Earth (yes, it is way out of the way if traveling down I35, but it is all there is going south). However, it went online in December and has been offline as much as on. They have now completely shut it down indefinitely for hardware repairs. Driving from Moorhead to Rochester takes >4 hours longer in the I-Pace than with a normal car...

Thanks guys!

Great points on buying CC! I never really thought that through. I was going off the old "iPad on wheels" supercharger mentality. The cold too will be a relatively universal problem, regardless of EV brand but great point there! I think that can be handled like we use to have to do with a trickle charge.

I see our Jag dealership gets all of 4/5 in reviews which as you know is actually not that great. I like to see close to 5 in reviews. Like a 4.5 and up. I do know first hand however you can't please everyone but an even 4/5 is not good. I bet that new dealership and Golden Valley will be "in bed together," if you will. I know the Twin City caddy dealers were and probably still are.

I totally get what you are saying though it would def be more challenging to travel cc back to the tundra, and up to the cabin, but I do have other cars, so the transition won't be as bad. I plan on driving the Jag daily. You sure don't see them - like ever here, as you know, which is VERY appealing to me! I thought for a moment the other day when I was dropping off my daughter at school that another parent had an I Pace but I looked closer and it was an E Pace. It lacked that awesome raked rear window, and the cleaner overall design! I thought to myself, oh ok put the thumb away, old man. I was going to give him the old "thumbs up" like I use to do in the old Corvette days. LOL! The E-Pace is even relatively "rare" here. I just LOVE that blue!

Another great point was made with my thoughts on the traditional car interior. I'm SO happy there are a lot of us NON millennials left! The iPad in the S was "tolerable" I guess, but left something to be desired. It just seemed SO unfinished. Then the model 3 - oh boy. Maybe I'm old school, and I don't appreciate "minimalism," you know I appreciate the speedo in front of the driver thing, not in the lap of the passenger's iPad, and the inconvenience of having to scroll through my iPad settings to turn on the headlights! LOL!

Love a comparison I read on here - the Tesla is as an "iPad on wheels!" LOL - literally!! So true! There was a lux manufacturer a few years back that put the owner's manual in the included iPad. When I first laid eyes on the S interior for a second I was like, well that's interesting they put the iPad owner's manual on the dash! LOL! That's true though, for a second I thought that, then I was like ok where's the rest of the dash?? HEHE!

Thanks again Guys! Happy this was put together and happy to be here! Sorry about the obvious typos in my first post. I was having problems with my old SCAMcast connection so it posted w/o me reviewing it.

The mainstreaming of the sparse look began with Steve Jobs and Apple. Tesla was just the first company to make it cool outside of the phone industry. Steve Jobs is no millennial.
