Potential Jaguar I-Pace Debut Plans

There’d the usual method of debuting a new vehicle that most automakers go for; pick one of the larger auto shows and reveal the new model. But Jaguar has been breaking the mould and we can probably expect to see some kind of spectacle for the I-Pace’s global debut.

A tall order for Jaguar’s marketing team as they have already set the standard so high with both the F-Pace and the E-Pace’s debuts. The F-Pace set a new Guinness World Record in 2015 by blasting up a 63-foot-tall loop, fighting against 6.5 Gs of gravity to complete the spectacle.

Then there’s the more recent world premiere of Jaguar’s compact performance SUV. To demonstrate the agility and performance of the E-Pace, stunt driver Terry Grant took an E-Pace up a ramp and performed a 270-degree roll 15.3m through the air before safely landing on the other side, thus setting a new Guinness World Record.

With the I-Pace being an electric vehicle with a hefty battery pack, performing similar stunts may not be the best idea. Perhaps Jaguar will try to set a new record for the most countries visited by electric car on a single charge. Frederik Van Overloop from Belgium is the current record holder and he managed to visit 7 countries in a Tesla Model S last year; travelling through Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia.

Let us know what kind of I-Pace debut you think we’ll see from Jaguar.

The most countries visited by electric car on a single charge would only work in Europe. Maybe the longest distance traveled on a charge? If they start at a high elevation and hypermill as much as thy can going down, the single charge could last a lot longer.

Well for one they shouldn't do a barrel roll like what was done to the E-Pace, weight and placement of the batteries alone would quickly end it ugly. Unless what they use is much lighter and a true stunt car compared to the production I-Pace.

Something city-based and iRobot like would be cool!

Definitely not a barrel roll! Even if Jaguar doesn't try to break another world record, their new ads should center around country driving to highlight the I-Pace's long battery range and show potential owners that you can take one on road trips.

Doing some other sort of Guiness Record thing would be pretty cool but unnecessary. I think the debut of the first EV from Jaguar alone, with how great it looks, would do enough by itself.

But I did find this info on the most countries traveled on a single charge record thing:

Quote:
The car has an EPA-certified rating of 253 miles per charge, but the two Tesla owners drove 452.8 miles at a speed of 24.2 miles per hour.

The two men took turns driving in shifts of several hours. Total drive time was 18 hours and 40 minutes.

The start and stop point was Rodekro, Denmark.

The Tesla Model S P85D comes with an 85-kWh battery pack which is the largest that Tesla offers on their model S at the moment.

The previous world record for the longest distance traveled in the Model S with an 85-kWh battery pack was set back in 2013 by David and Adam Metcalf, the distance they managed was 423.5 miles.

The Model S drive wasn't the only major Tesla Motors (NASDAQ:TSLA) feat that Mr. Nyland completed in recent weeks.
He was also the first winner of the firm's referral program, and he'll get a free Model X just as soon as the 10 people he signed up to buy the Model S get take the shipment of their EV.

His total energy usage came down to 108 Wh/km, and he used a total of 77.5kWh in his entire journey.
Hypermiling is definitely what they were doing at an average of 24.2mph. That sounds extremely frustrating and tedious lol.

Just the process before the final barrel roll for the E-Pace took a lot of calculations and tries, not something I can see Jaguar doing with a heavy I-Pace. I known Tesla set a new world record for a quarter-mile run, but that's not what the I-Pace was designed for. So something lengthier is the only option for Jaguar.

At least we know one easier way to do the same barrel roll with a JLR product will be with the F-Pace, lightest thing JLR has to offer and depending on what future trims come out, this could be possible. Maybe something GT3-esque for the street
